Nomad - Advanced Mobile Business System

Mobile telecommunications and computers are revolutionizing the way companies are doing business. Use this revolution to improve the competitive advantage of your company!

Nomad is a successor to the Hermes Mobile Business System and can be used on any mobile device that supports the Java Microedition programming environment (effectively all PDAs and mobile phones sold today).

This innovative solution enables employees to use a mobile device to accomplish all of the business tasks they usually do, without being tied to desktop PCs in their offices. For example:

  • Salesmen in the field can view and search contacts, execute client queries based on various criteria, enter and validate new orders, review previous orders' status, inventory, etc.
  • Servicemen in the field can receive electronic work orders without having to return to the central office. Electronic work orders can contain a multitude of information, including a graphical map with the client's exact location and wayfinding instructions. Workers can access all the required data from the company's central database – spare parts inventory, service history, servicing instructions, etc.
  • Couriers can automatically report on their position, status of the current delivery, etc., or receive new assignments.
  • Workers can remotely access any and all information important for the successful and timely completion of their task.

Paired with embedded or portable GPS receiver, or telecom provider's geolocation services, Nomad can be extended with the following functionalities:

  • Monitoring the exact geographic location of workers or their vehicles in real time (with derived data – starting time, daily distance traveled, maximum speed, etc.)
  • Geographic navigation with current position as a moving map display on the mobile phone's screen.

Connecting with wireless bar-code scanners, printers and other peripherials is also supported.

Nomad consists of a pair of software applications, the first of which is installed on an existing or a dedicated server on the company's premises, and the second on mobile devices of all users of the system. Data is transferred in encrypted form using GPRS or some other data-bearing service. Maximum security is achieved by using access authorization based on a system of usernames/passwords and digital signatures, and the software can be customized to fit the needs and IT infrastructure of each customer individually.
